Chitani Chigumula was appointed Director General – Deposit Insurance Corporation (Malawi) on 6 December 2023. Mr. Chigumula is on a three-year secondment from the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM). Prior to his current appointment, he was Director, Capital Markets and Microfinance Supervision in the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Mr Chigumula was also Director, Pension and Insurance Supervision in the Reserve Bank of Malawi from 30 January 2020 to July 2022.   He holds a Master of Science degree in International Economics from the University of Bradford (United Kingdom) and a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics from the Chancellor College (University of Malawi).
