<div class="project-desc"> Nan is a Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank’s Financial Sector Advisory Center (FinSAC), responsible for coordinating technical assistance projects on deposit insurance and financial safety net contingency planning. In his role, he has covered a broad range of deposit insurance topics in more than 15 countries, including on coverage, funding, premium and investment policies, reporting standards and payout procedures, institutional risk management and business continuity planning, bank resolution, public financial backstops, and interagency crisis preparedness. He has also supported the amendment of deposit insurance laws in several jurisdictions and contributed to multiple lending operations by the World Bank to support deposit insurance funds and resolution funds. Nan currently serves on the IADI Financial Technology Technical Committee. Before his assignment in FinSAC, Nan worked for the World Bank’s Development Research Group as an experienced analyst for the <em>Global Financial Development Report</em> series. He also contributed to several <em>World Development Reports</em> including in 2022 on <em>Finance for an Equitable Recovery</em>. Nan holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Cornell University. </div>

<div class="project-desc"> Chitani Chigumula was appointed Director General – Deposit Insurance Corporation (Malawi) on 6 December 2023. Mr. Chigumula is on a three-year secondment from the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM). Prior to his current appointment, he was Director, Capital Markets and Microfinance Supervision in the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Mr Chigumula was also Director, Pension and Insurance Supervision in the Reserve Bank of Malawi from 30 January 2020 to July 2022. He holds a Master of Science degree in International Economics from the University of Bradford (United Kingdom) and a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics from the Chancellor College (University of Malawi). </div>

Mrs. Hellen Chepchumba Chepkwony is a seasoned professional with over two decades of remarkable achievements in strategic leadership and management in the financial sector. A University of Nairobi graduate, Mrs. Chepkwony holds both Masters of Arts Economics B.A degrees in Economics, which have laid the foundation for her deep insights into economic dynamics. Her illustrious career has spanned both the public and private sectors. Hellen is a Financial Risk Certified Professional (RCP) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Currently, she is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC). In this pivotal position, Mrs. Chepkwony continues to orchestrate a transformative agenda, poised to steer the Corporation to achieve its mandate as Risk Minimizer and a Resolution Authority. She previously was Head of Risk and Bank Examination where she played an instrumental role in the transition of KDIC into a fully-fledged State Corporation and deposit insurer. Mrs. Chepkwony has previously worked with the Central Bank of Kenya, Kenya Commercial bank and The National Treasury as an Economist and Risk professional. She currently serves in the Board as an Executive Council member at the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) based in Basel Switzerland. She is the Deputy Secretary General of the African Regional Committee of Deposit Insurers. She also serves in various Boards and actively participates in community outreach activities.

A well-regarded and highly accomplished senior policy professional with a broad and deep knowledge of the UK financial services regulatory system.  Wide-ranging experience of engagement with international and domestic stakeholders. Highly regarded expert in the area of deposit insurance, with extensive knowledge of all aspects of deposit insurance policy and operational implementation. Karen Gibbons was appointed a member of the Board of the Guernsey Banking Deposit Compensation Scheme in 2022. Previously Ms Gibbons worked for the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) in the United Kingdom between 2000 and March 2023 with her final role being Head of International Liaison and Research. During her time with FSCS Ms Gibbons worked as part of the senior leadership team, alongside FSCS Board and Executive, on FSCS strategic positioning and development of FSCS policy role.  Successfully established FSCS as an international standard setter for compensation. Worked alongside Her Majesty’s Treasury and the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority during the global financial crisis on the development and implementation of the UK Special Resolution Regime. Was directly involved in the FSCS response to the failure of several UK deposit institutions during this period. Represented FSCS internationally as a board member of European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI) and a member of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) Executive Committee.   Involved in a number of IADI and EFDI working and research groups. Established as an expert in the IADI Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems and involved in IADI assessments of a number of international deposit insurance schemes.  Participated as a trainer and facilitator for IADI in the training of further experts in the IADI Core Principles.

Sabihah Mohamed

Sabihah was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Corporation for Deposit Insurance (CODI), effective 1 January 2024. She joined the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) in 2001, gaining more than two decades of experience in different departments in the SARB, including <em>inter alia</em> banking supervision, bank recovery plans and deposit insurance. Prior to being appointed CEO, she held the position of Policy Manager within CODI, where her main responsibility was to provide managerial leadership and strategic direction for the development and communication of policies related to the deposit insurance scheme. She was part of the team that was instrumental in developing legislation for CODI to become a legal entity in 2023 and operational on 1 April 2024.
