Ms. Chuin Hwei Ng

Chuin Hwei joined the Toronto Centre with 25 years of experience in financial regulation and supervision, and in economics.

As Director in the Prudential Policy Department in the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Chuin Hwei worked on bank regulatory policy and led teams supervising foreign banks in Singapore.

Chuin Hwei was closely involved in the policy work to enhance coverage by the deposit insurance scheme in Singapore, and in the Singapore Government’s guarantee on deposits during the Global Financial Crisis.

Chuin Hwei was also seconded to head the regional surveillance function in the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office in Singapore, assessing macroeconomic and financial risks facing the region.

Chuin Hwei holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University, and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School.
